Gas Lasers

CO / CO2 INFRARED AND THz LASERS

The Edinburgh Instruments family of gas lasers comprises continuous and pulsed CO/CO2 lasers (PL Series) as well as far infrared THz lasers (FIR Series).

Their stable and high-power outputs make them ideal for applications in spectroscopy, non-linear optics, LIDAR, interferometry, holography, and beyond.

PL Series

CO/CO2 Lasers

  • 1 μm – 10.9 μm tunable spectral ranges (CO2 operation)
  • Up to 180 W single line outputs, suitable for high-power applications
  • High stability for reliable, accurate results
  • Polarised output in all models
  • PL2, PL3, PL5 or PL6 models to suit your output power and spectral range needs
  • Dual CO/CO2 operation for PL3 model covering a wider spectral range (5.1 μm – 6.0 μm and 9.1 μm – 10.9 μm)
  • Pulsed option for PL5 model, for studying time-resolved processes

Live Video Demonstration

We can accept your samples and talk you through the process as we run test measurements. Contact us to arrange an online demonstration

MTL-5

Mini-TEA CO2 Laser

  • Manual Grating Tuned Option– 9.2 μm to 10.8 μm operation (>60 lines available)
  • Untuned Option – 10.6 μm operation(max. energy single-mode 150 mJ/pulse)
  • 50 ns typical pulse width
  • High Repetition Rates, Single Shot– 100 Hz
  • Self-diagnostic tests for fail-safe operation

FIRL-100

Terahertz Laser

  • Tunable emission – 40 μm – 1.2 mm (7.5 THz – 0.25 THz)
  • Output FIR powers > 150 mW on selected lines
  • Integrated CO2 Pump Laser and FIR cavity in one single compact unit
  • CO2 line output accessible, 1 μm – 10.9 μm with up to 50 W
  • ±2% power and ±1 MHz optional stabilisation up to 1 hour

295 & 395

FIR Lasers

  • Single (295) or dual (395) FIR laser output – dual model is optimal for plasma diagnostics applications (frequency offset)
  • FIR output from 40 μm to 1.22mm (0.25 –7.5 THz)
  • Pumped by PL5 or PL6 lasers – Typical powers of 150 mW (PL5 pump) and 500 mW (PL6 pump), choice depending on application
  • Invar stabilised resonator guarantees stable output
